Have You Notice That Getting Older Creeps Up On You Slowly and Then One Day... Wham?!!

 

That was me for sure. In my 20s I was working during the day and going to school at night. I had tons of energy, was super active, and didn't worry at all about nutrition or my health. At 30 I was teaching full time and began raising my family. Of course I was tired. That would be expected, right?  Working 40-50 hours a week, meal planning, cooking, baseball practice, soccer, ballet lessons - all moms are tired!  

 

It was when I was in my mid-40s that I started thinking, "This isn't that bad."  But then I had the sinking feeling, "Things aren't going to get a whole lot better!" That's when I began looking for a solution. But what a confusing mess. In the world of what to eat, it was low fat, high fat, low carb, healthy carbs, vegan, paleo, intermittent fasting. And the world of supplements was even worse. What a nightmare! I remember walking into a vitamin store and was so overwhelmed, I walked out in tears. By the time I was in my 50s, my cholesterol was up along with my blood sugar and my weight.  My energy levels were much worse and I had a whole host of health conditions. I knew exercise was important but my knees hurt so bad I just didn't know how I was going to turn things around. 

At the beginning of 2011 two things happened. I was introduced to an incredible line of science-based formulas that are designed to push down on cellular damage and flood the body with repair and I read the book, The Metabolic Plan by Stephen Cherniske.  I highly recommend you read his updated book, The Metabolic Makeover, It's All About Energy.  After starting on a few specific products and reading that book my mind and vision to what was possible completely opened up and I started to think very differently about the whole aging process. 

Let the upward spiral begin!! Everything started to change. The first thing I noticed was my energy.  I was no longer flopping on the couch after work. I actually felt like taking walks. I started taking my dog out before work and each day we went a bit further.  Pretty soon I was taking on the big hill by my house and even trotted all the way up. Of course, my dog probably thought I was crazy but she's such a good girl and to this day she accompanies me every day for our morning run about! Besides the increased energy, I also noticed my body wasn't hurting like before and many other issues started to disappear.   

Today I am in my 60s and what a difference! I have the energy and stamina of a much younger version of myself. I'm down twenty pounds, my blood work is excellent and I'm excited for what the future holds. My first grandbaby is on the way and I am so grateful as to how my health has changed. I retired from teaching in 2017 and decided to apply my teaching skills to my passion for health and wellness. I became a certified health and wellness coach. I love working with open-minded individuals who are interested in an optimal quality of life. It is so much fun for me to guide & support my clients in making small changes over time to improve their overall health and wellbeing.
